Day 8

Our final day of ministry in Haiti.  There were some difficult moments today; from patients seen in the clinic, to saying goodbye to the people in Cabaret.  We are truly blessed to be a part of their lives and will miss them dearly.  Tonight we packed and began to get ready to return home.  Please pray for our traveling tomorrow.  We are thankful for your prayers; everyone is currently healthy, and we have had no serious medical concerns.  Blessings to you all; we love you, and will see you soon!

Day 7

We had another great clinic today! There were about 30 to 35 people seen, and about 5 or so were greatly in need of medical attention.  The people were prayed for and received medication.  Those who weren't involved in the medical clinic loved on the kids and prayed for the community and the country.  The team came back energized and joyful.  The nursing students rode in the tap tap with us back to Port-au-Prince; we sang worship songs with them.  There were songs they sang, songs we sang, and songs we sang together.  It was the best ride yet.  Thank you for your continued prayer, God had clearly been with us this week.  We will go back tomorrow to work on the clinic, teach the kids, and see a few people who weren't able to be seen at the clinic today.  Please continue to pray for strength and health, but specifically pray for emotions tomorrow as we say good-bye to people we have began to build relationships with during the week.  Blessings to you all, we love you.

Day 6

We provided a clinic today for residents of a Samaritan's Purse settlement.  This is the same site last year's team ran a clinic at.  Today Kion was able to see about 45 people, who were also prayed for after they received care.  Those who weren't a part of the clinic played with and loved on kids.  About 40 kids received salvation bracelets during the lesson.  We had a tiring, but awesome day.  Thank you again for your prayers.  Please continue to pray for strength, health, and safety.  Tomorrow will be another clinic at the site where we have been working on the clinic.  We miss you all and love you.  Blessings from Haiti!  Beni swa l'Eternel! (Praise God!)

Day 5

I thought I should post about our day yesterday this morning since it got too late last night.  We had another good day!  More work on the clinic; the roof is complete now!  We had fun with about 35 kids for our bible lesson and face painting.  Keep us in your prayers today; we will be running a medical clinic, which is very physically, emotionally, and spiritually taxing.  We thank you for your prayers.  I will post again tonight if possible.  Blessings to you.  We love you all.

Quick Update

We just want to put a quick update up incase you hear anything on the news.  We just felt a small earthquake here at the guest house.  There is no damage or injury, it was just a small tremor, but we want to let you know we are all fine.  We checked on the USGS website, and saw it was a 4.6 earthquake about 22 miles southwest of Port-au-Prince.  Please pray that there will not be any more tremors, and for safety.  Thank you.

Day 4

Today was another great day!  Thank you all for your prayers; all who were ill are feeling much better, and there are currently no others who are ill.  We had a good day of ministry.  Kion and Maggie went to Friendship Baptist Church where Kion gave some medical training to nursing students.  He taught basic medical conditions and treatments for different parts of the body.  He also included a Biblical teaching with each of the body parts he taught about.  The rest of the group went to the same site as yesterday for construction and children's ministry.  More of the roof was completed, and many kids came to the church for the lesson.  Nathan and Austin acted out the story of David and Goliath while Sam narrated the story.  The kids enjoyed the skit, and Franklin reinforced the lesson with the kids by asking them some questions to test their understanding.  They answered the questions very well, and understood the lesson.  After the lesson, the group played with the kids and colored with them.  Everything went very well today; we are thankful for your continued prayers and answered prayers for health.  Please continue to pray for boldness in our faith and witness along with health and safety.  Blessings to you all at home; we love you.

Day 3

Today was our first day of working in ministry!  We traveled to another village in Cabaret today.  We worked on putting a roof on a clinic, and did vbs time for kids after they came home from school.  We played with the kids all day and interacted with the workers.  We had a generator to use power tools for building the roof, but there were problems with getting it to work right.  After some time, we got it running, but it did not end up working.  Even with this, much work was accomplished on the clinic.  About 30 kids came to the vbs time.  A few of us were also able to go prayer-walking in the community; we prayed for many families.  A few people on the team have been ill today, but are doing ok currently.  Please pray for health and safety for the team.  We are thankful for all your prayers.  We will continue to send updates as we can.  Blessings to everyone.  We love you all.

Day 2

Another great day!  Today was church day.  We visited La Victoire (Victory Baptist Church).  Everyone enjoyed the worship service; there was the beautiful singing, passionate prayer, communion, and the message (which was finally translated to the team by Francklin tonight at our team meeting).  Amanda got to visit her friend Allourde, and Maggie got to see the church that she helped clean up rubble at two years ago.  After church, we went to eat lunch at a restaurant in town.  It feels so strange to be doing all these fun things in the first few days of the trip, but God has a plan, and we just need to trust Him.  After lunch, we visited the community of Trousable (pronounced true-saab).  We visited a church that we visited two years ago after the earthquake.  Two years ago the church building had been demolished by the earthquake, and now it is a completely functioning church.  God is good!  While we were at Trousable, Herbie came to see Austin.  Herbie was Austin's translator from last year whom he became good friends with.  We were able to visit Herbie's home and meet his whole family there.  I was honored to be able to pray for them in their home, and Austin was very happy to see Herbie.  When we left Trousable, we went to see the Presidential Palace and stopped at a marketplace nearby.  After this, it was time to head back to the guest house to rest for tomorrows construction.  We have experienced much in the last two days, and have been streched by God in many ways.  As we move into the rest of the week, we look forward to seeing God move in mighty ways.  We will be putting a roof on a clinic in Cabaret, Kion will be training medical students, we will operate two clinics, and we will minister to kids.  Thank you again for your prayers.  We will hopefully give another update tomorrow night.  Until then... good night, we love you!

Day 1

Hello everyone!  We have arrived safely and have had one day in the field.  Yesterday was long and time was limited in the evening, so I apologize that we did not post upon arriving.  Today was a good day; we worked with the team that has been here for the past week.  In the morning we traveled to Cabaret, which is about an hour drive from the guest house where we stay.  We helped the other team with childrens ministry at the church in Belsie.  Everyone had a great time playing, singing, and loving on the children.  After we had lunch, we traveled a little farther out to a beach where we were able to go swimming!  This was an unexpected opportunity for our team.  It is not normal to do something like this on the first day, but we were with the other team and it is their last day, so we swam.  most of us do not have swimming suits, but made the best with the clothes we had!  We then returned to the guest house and enjoyed our dinner that was prepared for us.  The team has worked very well together today.  Everyone is healthy and doing well.  We are very blessed by all of them already on the first day.  Thank you for your prayers.  We are encouraged greatly knowing that so many of you are battling in prayer for us paving the way.  We will post again soon.  We love and miss you all.  Until the next post....
